The San Diego Music and Art Company – Lessons Policy

  1. Be Reasonable.
    Life happens. We get it.

  2. Give 24 Hours’ Notice for Non-Emergency Cancellations.
We’ll do the same for you.

  3. Communicate.
Being informed is good. Being uninformed is not good. Becoming informed happens by communicating.

  4. Parents > Children.
While “Children > Parents” is an interesting sociological experiment, it has yet to succeed in the context of lessons.

  5. Practice.
Shockingly, folks who don’t practice don’t improve.

  6. Seriously—Be Reasonable.
It’s worth saying twice. Yes, we live in a time where unreasonableness has become fashionable, but let’s make SDMAAC a bastion of reasonable behavior.

Tuition & Makeup Policy Agreement

  1. Autopay Schedule
Lessons are billed in 4-week increments via autopay on the 28th–31st of each month, paying in advance for the upcoming month.

  2. Missed Lessons – Student
Missed lessons may be made up within one month of the absence by attending one of the following:

    • A group theory class

    • A group composition class

    • A group art class
      (With 24-hour notice.)
Makeup lessons may also be offered at the teacher’s discretion.

  3. Missed Lessons – Teacher
If a teacher must miss a lesson, they will either provide a substitute or offer a dedicated makeup day. If the student cannot attend the offered makeup, the group class options above are available with 24-hour notice.

  4. Pausing or Discontinuing Lessons

    • To pause lessons for one month: a 50% tuition fee holds your time slot and supports continuity in teacher pay.

    • To discontinue lessons: a 50% tuition fee ensures fairness in compensation and scheduling.
